Maximum Max Goes Treble Top at Blaxhall

Sunday saw the Woodbridge DMCC host their final Motocross event of the year, as they hosted the fifth round of the Stebbing Car Superstore / PP Sport ACU Eastern Centre Motocross Championship. With nearly 150 riders competing the event there was plenty of action in the warm weather at the sandy Blaxhall Circuit.


Due to a clash in dates with a National Championship which saw the Expert line up limited in numbers, but racing alongside the top Junior riders produced some great action to keep the strong crowd in attendance entertained.


The day started with the opening Premier Class race featuring the Experts and top Juniors, when the gate dropped it was Shaun Southgate who took the holeshot and early race lead. Battling to take the race lead was Max Broadbelt who pushed forward and took the lead before the halfway point and went on to take the race win ahead of Southgate. Third place went to the reigning champion Luke Parker who was returning from injury and ahead of Ben Cole in fourth and Joesph Leeks in fifth. The top Junior rider in the race was Freddie O’Leary in 9th ahead of Jake Brown in 10th and the third Junior was Shane Lock in 12th.


The second Premier Class race saw Southgate and Broadbelt both starting at the front of the field and again quickly picked up from where they ended the opening moto. Broadbelt moved into the lead on the second lap and went onto control the race and take another race win. Southgate rode a solid race to claim second ahead of Parker in third. Fourth went to Joesph Leeks ahead of William Farrow in fifth. The top Junior was Charlie Nudds in 10th with Freddie O’Leary next in 11th and Shane Lock as the third Junior in 12th.


Broadbelt took the holeshot in the final Premier Class race and held off the challenge from Southgate as the pair battled for the race win all the way to the flag. Parker took another third place finish ahead of Leeks and Jake Rackham. The top three Junior were Jake Brown, Shane Lock and Connor Bunkle.


After the three races it was Max Broadbelt who took the Expert Overall win ahead of Shaun Southgate and Luke Parker. The top three Juniors Overall were Jake Brown, Shane Lock and Charlie Nudds.


In the Support Class A it was Louis Dutton who took the first race win, before Sam Rogers took the next two race wins to claim the Overall win in the class ahead of Henry Cox who took a 2-2-5 and Luke Nolan who took third overall.


The Support Class B was won by Taylor Saunders who claimed a race win in the final race to secure the overall ahead of Scott Goodson and Henry Crawford.


The final class of the day was the Support Class C which was won by Adam Bird who took two race wins. Second overall went to Toby Souchotte ahead of Sam Whittred.
